Neozep Z+ Forte Phenylephrine HCl 10 mg, chlorphenamine maleate 2 mg, paracetamol 325 mg, Zn 10 mg. Neozep Z+ Non-Drowsy Phenylephrine HCl 10 mg, paracetamol 325 mg, Zn 10 mg
Indications/Uses
Relief of clogged & runny nose, postnasal drip, itchy & watery eyes, sneezing, headache & body ache, & fever associated w/ common cold, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, flu & other minor resp tract infections. Decongest sinus openings & passages & protect resp cells against common cold & flu. Treatment & prevention of Zn mineral deficiency.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. High BP or severe heart disease; anemia, kidney, or liver disease. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if skin reaction occurs; worsen fever or lasts >3 days; new symptoms occur. Do not use w/ other medicine containing phenylephrine, chlorphenamine or paracetamol; Zn. High BP or any type of heart problems; glaucoma; thyroid problems; diabetes; enlarged prostate, bladder problems or difficulty urinating. Patient taking warfarin. Severe liver damage may occur if >4 g of paracetamol in 24 hr is taken. Liver or kidney disease. Stop use & consult a doctor if fever gets worse or lasts >3 days or new symptoms occur. Neozep Z+ Forte May affect ability to drive or performing other tasks requiring alertness.
Adverse Reactions
Insomnia/sleeplessness, nervousness; tremor; increased BP; headache; diarrhea, GI discomfort, nausea, vomiting. Phenylephrine HCl: Anxiety; dizziness, restlessness; arrhythmia, palpitation; pallor; resp distress; weakness. Paracetamol: Changes in the number of WBC & platelets eg, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, neutropenia, pancytopenia, thrombocytopenia; allergic reactions; minor stomach & intestinal disturbances; rare cases of serious skin reactions (ie, SJS, TEN & acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis). Zn: Loss of appetite; drowsiness; metallic taste; abdominal pain/cramps, dyspepsia, gastritis, GI irritation. Neozep Z+ Forte Chlorphenamine maleate: Facial dyskinesia, faintness, paresthesia; blurred vision, diplopia, visual disturbance; acute labyrinthitis, tinnitus, vertigo; chest tightness; decreased BP; thickening of bronchial secretions, nasal stuffiness, wheezing; constipation; muscle weakness; difficulty urinating; early menses, impotence; chills, dryness of the mouth, nose, & throat; irritability, sweating.
Drug Interactions
Possible increased toxicity w/ sympathomimetic agents (eg, epinephrine) & general anesth (eg, halothane). Hypertensive crisis w/ MAOIs (eg, selegiline, moclobemide) & TCAs (eg, amitriptyline, imipramine). Phenylephrine: Decreased effect w/ α-adrenergic blocker (eg, phenothiazine drugs, phentolamine). Increased BP w/ β-adrenergic blockers (eg, propranolol) & methyldopa. Paracetamol: Increased anticoagulation effect of warfarin. Increased susceptibility of liver to harmful effects w/ medicines w/c stimulate enzyme responsible for metabolic activation of paracetamol eg, medicines for convulsion (eg, phenobarb, phenytoin). Increased absorption w/ metoclopramide or domperidone. Reduced absorption w/ cholestyramine. Zn: Decreased absorption of certain antibiotics eg, quinolones (eg, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, ofloxacin) & tetracyclines (eg, doxycycline, tetracycline). May decrease absorption of both bisphosphonate (eg, alendronate, etidronate, risedronate) & Zn. Inhibit absorption of Cu & Fe. Additive effects w/ cholesterol medicines. Neozep Z+ Forte May potentiate drowsiness w/ anxiolytics (eg, alprazolam, diazepam) & hypnotics (eg, zolpidem).
